the high street

the main street that runs through any burrough, village, or part of town is termed "the high street," even though that may not be it's official name. travelling the high street can be wearisome between the buses and foot traffic, but is necessary as it serves as host to the regular slew of grocery stores, quick marts, charity shops, drug stores, etc. that require regular visiting. in bigger burroughs, or in smart parts of central london, stylish british clothing chains and some independent shops add into the mix. shopping in the madness on those high streets can be exhilarating. of course tally couldn't take her buggy on those excursions...
